Every year, thousands of relatives and friends step in to bring
up vulnerable children who cannot live with their parents. This may
be for example because parents have died, suffer serious illness,
abuse drugs or alcohol or have been imprisoned.
These family and friends carers do an incredible job. They give
children a secure future and save the country billions of pounds by
keeping them out of care. They often face massive difficulties
including poverty, discrimination and isolation. But they succeed
in keeping families together and giving children a loving and
stable upbringing

your council to give better support to these families.
The 'Grandparents Plus' campaign is supported by the
National Children's Bureau (NCB), Childhood Bereavement
Network, Family Rights Group, the Grandparents Association,
NAGALRO, and Prison Advice and Care Trust.
